Through a simple symbolic rite, AsiaDHRRA formally launched the project “Linking Small Farmers to Market” last June 8, 2008, on the occasion of the project’s First Regional Forum cum Training Workshop that was held recently in Tay Ho Hotel in Hanoi Vietnam. The project launching was graced by the presence of Dr. Filemon Uriarte Jr., ASEAN Foundation’s Executive Director, H. E. Dr. Filemon A. Uriarte, Jr., the former Ambassador of Vietnam to Indonesia Mr. Nguyen Huang An and the members of AsiaDHRRA Execom led by Mr. Datuk Marimuthu Nadason. The launching was also attended by more than 75 forum and training workshop NGO farmer-leader participants and guests from Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Taiwan, Korea and Japan.
The Linking Small Farmers to Market (LSFM) is a project of AsiaDHRRA supported by the ASEAN Foundation. The project aims to contribute to the over-all efforts at reducing rural poverty and promote solidarity and Asian identity among people in Southeast Asia.
